Her Arms are More Comforting than Anyone else's

     

     There is one relationship in this mortal life which effortlessly scores above all other known relationships on this earth. Hmm feeling confused? Be careful not to scratch your head too much; that extraordinary relationship is none other than the mother's, which is genuinely valuable in terms of her unending love, dedication, and loyalty to her family. The lady in your life who will help raise you and love you unconditionally, forever, and always goes by the labels "Mother", "Mama," "Mommy," or just plain "Mom." A mother endures the good, the bad, and the ugly from their children and always hands out hugs and kisses. They are the rock and the support throughout the good and bad times in your life. 

 

     A mom will always hold you near and dear while wiping away your years. A mama will kiss your cheeks and make you smile. A mother will try and take all your pain and sorrow away and make them hers. But what is it really like to be a mother?  

     A mom can come in all shapes, sizes, and even genders. I say this because there are countless moms on the list. There is the biological mother, the eldest child, the step-mother, the single mother, the single father, the grandparent, the foster mother and so much more. A mother is a caregiver, unconditional love giver, housekeeper, cooker, baker, driver, psychologist, doctor, and discipliner. As the days pass, they are the ones who must carry the weight of both the good and the terrible. They are the ones who might get left behind; as they do so much they don't get as much appreciation. 

     A mom is the same person that may get dressed up with a pretty dress, curl her hair, and put on a full face of makeup just to go to the grocery store. A mother is the person who cooks your meals and is proud to set the table with healthy options. Moms are the same people who spent the day staring in the mirror at their bags under their eyes, their "mommy tummy," which they haven't quite learned to love, and sometimes even with tears welling up in their eyes for no apparent reason.  

     It is impossible to reciprocate the immense love and contributions of a mother in a single day, however, International Mother's Day is a celebration of motherhood. It is a day, and opportunity to express love towards the mother in a special way. It is a day which makes people remember the importance and significance of mothers in their life and is observed as a day to give special emphasis to the motherly figures around the world.

     And as a gift for my grandmother, I bought a sunflower. She loves sunflower so much and one thing sunflowers symbolize is loyalty, adoration, and love. Most of us wish happiness for the people we love, so the cheery blooms of the sunflower are a great choice for any mom you know. I also bought for myself, because I believe that Mother's Day is also for the eldest daughters, and for the ones who stands up as a mother who had to face parenthood and take their parents responsibilities early. 

     Being a mother is not a definition you find in a dictionary. A mother is the female parent who knows your deep secrets, the one with whom you feel at ease, the one who lifts you up so you can reach for and grab a star. That's what motherhood is all about; always being there -- the shoulder to cry on, the cheerleader who never gives up, the one who gives a standing ovation, the familiar hand to hold on.
